Antioch Church of the Nazarene was organized December 1, 1949 on Antioch Road in Overland Park, Kansas. At that time Antioch Road was a country road. The housing development of the late 1940's and early 1950's gradually produced blocks of houses east and south of the church. The church worshipped at that location until 2014 when the property was sold. Since then, Antioch has met in the chapel of St. Mark's Methodist Church.
In 2011, Antioch started a hispanic ministry which was named Nueva Vida. Since then, Nueva Vida has continued to experience growth through conversions and baptisms and holds services following Antioch's Sunday morning worship service.
Antioch is more than a building; it is the people that truly make up our church. Our congregation is welcoming to people of all backgrounds and walks of life. We are dedicated to serving our community and ultimately fulfilling the Great Commission to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19).

Johnny is a native of New Mexico. He had his first encounter with Jesus when his high school girlfriend (who happened to be a Nazarene pastor's daughter) first shared the gospel with him. He went on to marry her and they have been married for 16 years. A few short years later, while serving as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard and working full-time as a wind turbine technician, Johnny took on the role of Youth Pastor at Portales Church of the Nazarene.
Johnny later became the Senior Pastor at Portales Church of the Nazarene and served with his wife, Kristen, by his side for 8 years. They share 2 amazing children, Jordan (12) and Jada (8). He and his family accepted the call to Antioch Nazarene in early 2020 and he looks forward to bringing his energy and excitement for Christ with the Overland Park community.

We are a "Great Commission" church. As a global community of faith, WE ARE COMMISSIONED TO TAKE THE GOOD NEWS OF LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST TO PEOPLE EVERYWHERE and to spread the message of scriptural holiness across the lands.
THE CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE BONDS TOGETHER INDIVIDUALS who have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives, sharing in Christian fellowship, and seeking to strengthen each other in faith development through worship, preaching, training, and service to others.
We strive to express the compassion of Jesus Christ to all persons along with our personal commitment to Christ-like living. While the primary motive of the church is to glorify God, WE ALSO ARE CALLED TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN HIS MISSION – RECONCILING THE WORLD TO HIMSELF.
The statement of mission contains historical essentials of our mission: EVANGELISM, SANCTIFICATION, DISCIPLESHIP, COMPASSION. The essence of holiness is Christ-likeness. Nazarenes are becoming a sent people - into homes, workplaces, communities, and villages as well as other cities and countries. Missionaries are now sent from all regions of the world. GOD CONTINUES TO CALL ORDINARY PEOPLE TO DO EXTRAORDINARY THINGS made possible by the Holy Spirit.
